Heidi Klum details her six-hour peacock costume prep for Halloween party: ‘It’s a lot of commotion’

Nearly 13 years ago, former Victoria’s Secret Angel Heidi Klum hung up her wings — but on Tuesday night, she grew a whole new set of feathers.

Klum’s intricate peacock costume for her 2023 Halloween party took hours to accomplish and a lot of “moving parts.”

“It took about six hours to do this,” Klum, 50, exclusively told Page Six Style through her prosthetic beak ahead of the blowout bash at Marquee New York on Tuesday.

As we reported on Tuesday, Klum made a grand entrance on the red carpet as the stunning blue bird and was joined by 10 Cirque du Soleil professionals who acted as her outstretched feathers.

While the transformation process was quite tedious, the “America’s Got Talent” judge assured us that she didn’t feel any stress ahead of her spooky soirée.

“No. I’m not really anxious. I try to not get any glue in my eyes,” she said as she blinked her feathery lashes while reflecting on her party prep.

“There’s many people, there were 10 artists in there, getting painted with me at the same time,” she said, referring to the Cirque Du Soleil stars.

“There’s a lot of moving parts and people needing this and that,” she said of the makeup process.

Klum added that there was a lot at play, because so many people were involved in the towering look.

“So there’s a lot of moving parts and people needing this and that,” she said. “You know, [hair]spray, and so it’s a lot of commotion with so many people doing this, you know?”

Klum also discussed the inspiration behind her multi-level look, telling us that she wanted to involve others in her getup this year.

“I thought it would be fun to do a costume with a bunch of people and so I came up with the idea of a peacock and to do this with 10 people and all make an amazing formation and then fan out,” she shared.

“We figured out how the positioning would be and who gets what kind of leotard and how is it painted on so that from the front it will look like a peacock,” she added.

The German supermodel said that there was no “brainstorming,” and that she knew right away what she wanted to be this year.

Husband Tom Kaulitz, who dressed up as a giant peacock egg, shared the same sentiment and explained that his costume just made sense.

“It’s not easy to come up with something that fits. So peacock, we thought, you know, egg could fit. Big egg!” Tom Kaulitz told Page Six Style.

“It’s not easy to come up with something that fits,” the Tokio Hotel rocker, 34, told Page Six Style. “So peacock, we thought, you know, egg could fit. Big egg!”

“We got really stuck on the egg [idea] immediately,” Klum added.

“I just didn’t want to do something similar,” Klum shared. “I feel like I’ve done a lot of prosthetics from head to toe and I’ve done similar things, so I wanted to do something that people had not seen before and that was this for me.”

Klum’s prosthetics were done by makeup artist Bill Corso.

Numerous celebrities attended this year’s Heidiween bash — including Questlove, who was in the DJ booth spinning tunes, and Klum’s daughter Leni, who was dressed as Strawberry Shortcake.

Also in attendance were influencers Alix Earle and Claudia Oshry and singers Becky G, Camilla Cabello, and H.E.R. Others in the mix included Taylor Lautner, Keegan-Michael Key, Rachel Zegler, Ice-T and Coco, Jack Brinkley Cook and Maye Musk.

“This is one of the top ones I would say, just because it’s so unusual and so big in size and it’s weird,” she told us last year, admitting that it was hard for her to move in the slimy-looking suit.

“It’s hard for me to move. I don’t really have arms or legs,” she said. “When I fall over I need someone to help me get back up. I’m kind of stuck in it, you know? It feels a little claustrophobic.”

Klum is famous for her costumes at the yearly Halloween event, having previously dressed up as Jessica Rabbit, an old lady, Fiona from “Shrek” and a creepy alien-zombie, among other things.
